Composite Testing capabilities improved at NDT Services Ltd
November 2010

The progress of a recent project will enable efficient prioritisation and selection of appropriate non destructive testing methods to improve customer's manufacturing efficiencies and production quality improvements.

Tim Cresswell

By future investment in new testing systems, NDT Services Ltd can explore the possibility of optimising results obtained from ndt techniques.. Following on, the potential is to now feed actual test data into the product evaluation process, which takes the value of these services to higher levels. For example, such data is increasingly being sought for use by designers.

By working in collaboration with instrument suppliers, Research & Development organisations and customers, a strategic lead has been established that enables NDT Services Ltd to promote leading edge testing services, offering substantial production benefits to obtain results quickly and also in digital formats.

Tim Cresswell led the project, ably assisted by bd3T's Chartered Engineer, Patrick Eaton to check and validate progressive steps into broader markets and applications to assist Sales Manager, Pete Maiden, including:-

  • Aero Engine, Airframe, F1 Motorsport, Defence, Marine
  • Research & Development University and commercial manufacturing organisations

This firmly establishes NDT Services Ltd as a leading UK resource upon which manufacturers of all disciplines are finding exciting opportunities.

Operations Director, Phil Morris was delighted by the progress made to explore, develop and adopt the new techniques. The requirement for extensive and broad ranging services, both in manufacturing processes and on-site is growing substantially. Simply gauged by the number of enquiries incoming this project has been excellent timing to ensure customers gain best benefit from a responsive 24/7 service capability.

Materials Laboratory Coordinates support to major UK clientJune 2009

The Material Testing division of NDT Services Ltd has recently completed a comprehensive weld testing and inspection programme for a major UK supplier.

Materials Laboratory

The project involved qualification of over 200 welding procedures and welders for an installation in Europe. The testing involved many aspects of our company such as X-Ray, Surface crack detection, Mechanical testing including tensile, Charpy Impact, Bend tests, Hardness surveys, metallurgical inspection and forensic metallurgy. The materials tested included innovative alloys specifically designed for low temperature, high load environments.

Because of the need for the testing to fit into the build schedule of the installation, every single test had to be completed on a very tight time scale. NDT Services are proud to announce that we exceeded our clients expectations and were confirmed as being a part for the client winning further work throughout Europe and beyond.

This is a prime example of how NDT Services can provide a full testing service to support its clients, and even go the extra step to assist our clients in building their reputations in an international market.
